Langley Legacy Commons Advances to National LISC Pitch Competition in New York City

Langley Legacy Commons, a transformative housing development led by Sunshine Management, has been selected to advance to the LISC Developers Training Program National Pitch Competition, scheduled to take place in New York City on July 22.
Chosen from more than 1,000 applicants nationwide, the project will compete for the opportunity to secure between $3 million and $4 million in investment capital to support its development and expand equitable housing opportunities in Chicago.
“This recognition validates the importance of continuing to create equitable housing opportunities, pathways to homeownership, and community wealth-building in neighborhoods that have historically been overlooked,” expressed Bonita Harrison, Founder & CEO of Sunshine Management.
Langley Legacy Commons will deliver 39 for-sale housing units across 14 buildings in Chicago’s historic 4th Ward, aiming to create new opportunities for working- and middle-income families to build generational wealth through homeownership. By redeveloping vacant parcels, the project will strengthen Bronzeville’s residential base, expand the local tax base, support neighborhood businesses and schools, and advance equitable economic growth.
Sunshine Management’s opportunity to compete on a national stage underscores the growing impact of mission-driven development and highlights the role that projects like Langley Legacy Commons can play in creating stronger and more resilient communities.
“As a proud graduate of the LISC NextGen Developers Cohort, this recognition is especially meaningful. Programs like these help equip developers with the tools, relationships, and confidence needed to create lasting impact in our communities,” Harrison shared.
At present, Sunshine Management is advancing developments across Bronzeville, North Lawndale, Garfield Park, and Humboldt Park. In Bronzeville alone, three projects are moving forward, including Langley Legacy Commons, which will feature a mix of two- and three-unit residences. Additional developments in North Lawndale, Garfield Park, and Humboldt Park will further increase the city’s multifamily housing inventory, helping address housing demand while contributing to long-term community revitalization.
