Revitalizing

Chicago

Founded on a mission to bridge the equity gap in communities of color, Sunshine Management is redefining what community development looks like on Chicago’s South and West Sides.

What began as a small and values-driven venture has grown into a dynamic enterprise rooted in integrity, innovation, and inclusion. Guided by owner and CEO Bonita Harrison’s vision, Sunshine Management was built on the belief that real estate can be a powerful tool for change — one that restores ownership, wealth, and dignity to historically disinvested neighborhoods.

“Sunshine Management is a social impact real estate development company rooted in community vitality. It is committed to bridging the equity gap that exists in communities of color. We take distressed, dilapidated, and disinvested land that has been vacant for decades and build timeless structures. This boosts neighborhood morale and brings families to a neighborhood that was once vacant,” shares Bonita Harrison.

Since its founding in 2016, the company has produced more than 350 housing units, created 700 jobs for minority-owned businesses, contributed $250,000 in annual tax revenue, and generated over $30 million in Black community wealth. By aligning its expertise across development, construction, property management, and community partnerships, Sunshine Management ensures that every project delivers long-term impact, not just short-term results.

At its core, Sunshine Management is more than a real estate company. It’s a mission in motion — creating places where families can thrive, communities can grow, and legacies can endure.

“Through our efforts, we create jobs and opportunities for community residents. We have increased the annual tax revenue by a multiple of 20x. This helps create resources and fund our public school system in the immediate area. Partnering with a community is far more meaningful than merely building for it,” says Bonita Harrison.

Looking toward the future, Sunshine Management aims to complete over 1,500 units of housing, expand into mixed-use and multifamily projects, and steward more than $500 million in community-driven investment.
